What is the perfect Human? |
An individual may take up exercise in order to strive towards perfection. They may do this because they seek a balance. The thinking might be something like, "If I can balance my mind (their intellectual pursuits or career) with my health, I will be getting closer to perfection." However, this may not yet be enough for others, so they add their psychological, or soulful state of being to the equation thinking they are being spiritual. The word psychological however is derived from the word psyche, which indicates to breathe- or be a living soul. So that the thinking becomes, " I am balancing my body, mind and spirit, therefore I am obtaining a kind of perfection that surpasses that of mind and body only." As it is however, the psyche is only associated with the spirit through misuse, the psychological state is ruled by the mind( what is referred to sometimes as the lower mind) and heart, especially the heart in fact. This is also part of the reason that people associated, "soul" with food and emotions. The psyche then does not cover the spiritual dimension of the equation really, only your emotional dimensions. It is a big misconception that the psyche is the spirit. Psyche as I mentioned is associated with the soul, which is different from the spirit, and that they are the same is another big misconception people have. However over the years since the soul was being confused for so long with the spirit in western traditions, the word, "soul" actually came to signify the, "spirit." Because of a kind of ignorance of the self, people might generally think to themselves, "OK, I am not perfect, but I am closer to perfection than that lazy minded couch potato I know." So this is the thinking, and those people are going along living life day to day with a striving for some notion of perfection, that they will never reach but only get closer to than others. That thinking is also very judgmental in nature, not to mention encouraging a kind of selfishness. But did you know that since you can not reach perfection this way you are still on the same level as the other people anyway? Did you also know that If you could obtain perfection you still are on the same level as any other person you can think of? Maybe now however, you might be relatively stronger or faster. Did you also notice that the thinking has not elevated you beyond the struggle of the animal kingdom? So OK, a person may say to his or herself, "yes but I am becoming smarter than others and I am more happy than they are because I have better resources than they do, hence I am happier." It is happening now that they are equating quantity(more), with quality(fulfillment). It is so that animals behave and "think" this way too. Even a monkey is saying to himself, "If I behave this way in the lab, I can get more food." Of course he may not reason that It can better nourish him, that is were his instincts come in. So a person who is confusing quantity, quality (in terms of better, or above) and happiness with the concept of perfection will fail in obtaining it every time. But a person might say, "We as humans are imperfect, we can not attain perfection anyway." The way they were going about it I believe them that they could not. But did you know that it is possible? The first step to attaining perfection is allowing a window of possibility. Without the window you can not really know if it is truly possible or not. Take the first step and open up a window for yourself. You can always fall back to announcing that perfection is unattainable later on. If you already realize this, then you are that much closer to what is essential. |
